How Kaylee and Josh’s moody jewel tone wedding brought romance and glamor to Fort Worth, Texas.
Kaylee and Josh’s love story captures the magic of two worlds colliding. It began as a long-distance friendship between Austin and Dallas. Over time, it blossomed into a relationship that led to a beautiful, moody jewel tone wedding in Fort Worth, Texas. Their special day featured a stunning venue and thoughtful details that reflected their personalities. Kaylee and Josh’s celebration was an enchanting mix of romance, glamor, and personal touches, making their wedding truly one-of-a-kind.
Their Love Story: From Texts to Forever
Cookie, one of Kaylee’s bridesmaids, and Bryan, Josh’s best man, played matchmakers. They introduced Kaylee and Josh as their friend groups mingled after the couple moved back to Texas from New York. Despite living in different cities—Kaylee in Austin and Josh in Dallas—their connection began with simple texts. But eventually, their bond grew stronger. In 2020, they made it official. Kaylee moved to Dallas in 2021 and the rest is history. All leading up to the day Josh popped the question.
On July 21, 2022, Josh and Kaylee were vacationing at Disney World. He took her to a quiet corner of Star Wars World. Pretending to make a work call, he surprised her with a ring. He asked, “Will you be the Leia to my Han?” Overwhelmed with emotion, Kaylee agreed. The couple then began planning their moody jewel tone wedding to celebrate their union.

Venue Spotlight: The Ostreum – A Moody Jewel Tone Dream
For their moody jewel tone wedding, Kaylee and Josh selected The Ostreum in Fort Worth, Texas, as their venue. This stunning location combined old Texas industrial charm with an Art Deco flair, perfectly aligning with their Gatsby-inspired wedding vision. With its unique lighting options, breathtaking chandeliers, and spacious interior, the venue provided the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable atmosphere. With the guidance of their wedding planner, Alex Kilcoyne Weddings. Kaylee & Josh successfully brought their moody jewel tone wedding to life within The Ostreum’s beautiful setting.
Sage Fine Florals were able to completely transformed the venue. They draped lush greenery from the beamed ceilings. This elegantly framed the dance floor and created an intimate ambiance that radiated romance. The greenery continued as table runners, beautifully complementing emerald green cheesecloths. Black taper candles in gold holders added elegance and drama. Surrounded by hurricane glasses, the candles graced each table and enhanced the moody aesthetic. The tables featured striking black chargers, amber detailed water glasses, and champagne flutes from Big D Party Rentals. Blue Mesa Southwest Grill provided pristine white plates and shining silverware. Together, these elements completed the table design in harmony with the moody jewel tone wedding theme. As night fell and the lights softened, the atmosphere took on a magical quality. Guests fully immersed themselves in the enchanting mood that Kaylee and Josh envisioned for their celebration.

Behind the Scenes: The Wedding Planning Dream Team
Kaylee and Alex Kilcoyne have been best friends since college at the University of Texas. It was natural for Kaylee to trust Alex Kilcoyne Weddings to plan and design her special day. To let Alex focus on her duties as Matron of Honor, Wedding Bliss by Brandy took charge of day-of coordination. This dynamic partnership ensured everything ran smoothly. As a result, Kaylee and Josh enjoyed the moody jewel tone wedding of their dreams.

Food and Drinks
Blue Mesa Southwest Grill expertly handled the culinary experience at Kaylee and Josh’s wedding. They offered a delightful buffet spread. Guests indulged in a vibrant Mexican chopped salad and succulent grilled chicken with creamy sour cream sauce. Flavorful carne asada paired with chimichurri sauce was also available. Popular side dishes included honey Chipotle glazed carrots and poblano mac and cheese, ensuring everyone left satisfied. During cocktail hour, the catering staff circulated with enticing Mexican shrimp cocktail shooters and jalapeño sausage puffs. This added to the festive atmosphere. The bar was well-stocked with red and white wines, various beers, and a celebratory champagne toast. Non-alcoholic options were available to accommodate all guests.

Photography
Abby Shadle Photo LLC captured every moment of the day. She documented the excitement of getting ready and Kaylee’s emotional first looks with her father and then with Josh before their private vows. Josh, who at first wasn’t keen on taking photos, ended up enjoying the experience. Abby made him and his groomsmen feel comfortable with her up beat attitude. The main highlight was a series of shots with Josh’s vintage 1980 MG, which he had carefully restored with his Pa. This special car nods to his family history and personal love for cars.
Abby also captured Kaylee’s bridal portraits the week before the wedding. This allowed the couple to focus on dancing the night away instead of spending hours on photos. Bridal portraits are one of Alex Kilcoyne Weddings’ favorite ways to create extra free time in the wedding timeline. By scheduling these pictures in advance, the bride can test her hair and makeup. This way, she can secure stunning photos without sacrificing valuable time on the wedding day.

Hair & Makeup
On the morning of the wedding, excitement filled the air. Kaylee and her bridal party got ready for the big day with hair and makeup in full swing. Tailor Made by Tiffany handled the makeup and Ashley Eddy styled everyone’s hair. Each person looked stunning, perfectly embodying the moody jewel tone theme.
Kaylee opted for glamorous Hollywood curls which beautifully complemented the elegance of her gown. The makeup artist highlighted her natural beauty with a soft, glowy look. This captured the essence of the glamorous Gatsby-inspired aesthetic. Laughter and joyful chatter resonated throughout the room with Kaylee’s bridesmaid projected music videos, adding to the festive atmosphere. This cherished time together made Kaylee feel pampered and radiant. It set a joyful tone for the day ahead, creating an unforgettable kickoff to the wedding festivities.

Dance the Night Away
Kaylee and Josh were determined to throw an unforgettable dance party, and DJ Kip made sure the dance floor was alive with energy all night long. The atmosphere was electric, enhanced by vibrant up-lights, strobe lights, and a custom “Congratulations Kaylee & Josh” sign that welcomed everyone to celebrate. With Kaylee’s passion for 2000s emo music and Josh’s love for EDM, guests enjoyed an eclectic mix of tunes that perfectly captured the couple’s personalities. To add to the fun, glow sticks were handed out, lighting up the dance floor as guests twirled and grooved to the music. DJ Kip also played a special playlist of Kaylee’s favorite love songs during dinner, leading to an adorable moment where she serenaded Josh, creating a sweet and memorable experience for all.

Fashion: Bringing the Moody Jewel Tone Wedding Theme to Life
Kaylee’s wedding dress from The Bridal Corner in Massachusetts was a champagne-colored gown with a vintage Hollywood feel, perfect for a moody jewel tone wedding. Her outfit change into a party dress with pearl details around the neckline was a fun and glamorous way to transition into the reception. She paired this look with custom high-top sneakers adorned with pearls, which added a playful touch while keeping her comfortable on the dance floor.
The bridesmaids wore emerald green velvet dresses from Revelry, each choosing their own style, which allowed them to feel confident while staying true to the moody jewel tone wedding theme. Josh and his groomsmen wore classic black suits from Generation Tux with bolo ties, a nod to Texas traditions. The groom stood out with a black cowboy hat, while Kaylee sported a white cowgirl hat with rhinestones, adding a touch of sparkle.

A Gatsby-Inspired Celebration
The décor choices were inspired by a mix of Great Gatsby glamor and Southern charm. The event team arranged the tables in a square around the dance floor, ensuring that everyone had a clear view of the action-creating an inclusive, energetic atmosphere. Green velvet runners and cheesecloths adorned the tables, adding layers of texture that tied into the moody jewel tone wedding color palette.
One of the most special moments of the evening featured the couple’s heart-shaped wedding cake, which a close family friend baked. The cake featured white frosting with delicate piping and the words “Just Married” in black. Guests enjoyed slices of the sheet cakes, which added a sweet ending to the night.

Thoughtful Touches and Personal Details
Kaylee and Josh’s moody jewel tone wedding was filled with personal touches that made their day truly special:
- Custom Welcome Sign & Seating Chart: Hand-painted by Kaylee’s Aunt Laura, these added a sentimental touch to the décor.
- Guest Book: Instead of a traditional guest book, guests signed a wooden sign that read “The Robersons,” which the couple will cherish as a keepsake.
- Card Game Favors: Playing cards, custom-designed with space for guests to leave messages, were a nod to Kaylee and Josh’s love for playing cards together.
- Vintage 1980s MG: Josh’s vintage MG, a cherished project that Josh meticulously restored with his Pa, became a stunning backdrop for their photos.

A Texas-Sized Celebration
The stunning moody jewel tone aesthetic and the heartfelt celebration of Texas culture defined the day, resonating throughout every moment. In the groomsmen suite, Josh and his groomsmen enjoyed college football on the TV, providing the perfect backdrop for a Saturday filled with excitement and anticipation. The suite was alive with laughter and friendly banter as they took turns at the pool table. When it was time to get dressed, the groomsmen slipped into their stylish black bolo ties and polished boots, a nod to their Texan roots that perfectly complemented the elegant wedding theme. This blend of tradition and personal touches created an atmosphere of genuine celebration, ensuring that the day was as much about family and friendship as it was about the couple’s love story.
As the evening drew to a close, Kaylee and Josh shared a private last dance, cherishing a serene moment just for themselves amidst the joyful chaos of their wedding celebration. This intimate experience allowed them to reflect on the day’s magic, embracing the love and happiness that surrounded them. With the soft glow of the venue’s lights dimmed around them, they twirled slowly to Latch by Sam Smith, feeling the warmth of their commitment to each other. Once the final notes faded they made their grand exit. With their loved ones gathered around down the outdoor hallway leading to the vintage MG. Each holding sparklers that flickered like stars in the night sky. With laughter and cheers, Kaylee and Josh made their grand exit, and drove off in the MG as newlyweds.

Wedding Weekend Full of Celebrations
The festivities kicked off with a warm welcome event hosted at the Aloft Fort Worth Downtown the night before the wedding. This casual gathering allowed guests to mingle and enjoy some light bites while getting to know each other better, setting a joyful tone for the weekend. Kaylee and Josh greeted their friends and family, creating an intimate atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement. After the wedding on Saturday, the celebration continued with an energetic after-party back at the hotel. Dressed in more comfortable attire, Kaylee and Josh joined their guests at the hotel bar, to wrap up the celebrations before everyone departed the next day.
